A Matter of Dignity
Nov. 20th, 2012 05:14 pmOn the third day of the Grail War, Kirsikka went shopping.
It wasn't a matter of reconnaissance, or a matter of strategy. It was a matter of dignity, and therefore as important. An Edelfelt was in all things dignified, and Kirsikka may have been less than dignified the evening prior. She needed to redress the error. She needed to demonstrate her civility to those who had seen her uncivil.
She needed to make an apology -- and, as she understood it, an apology was made with a gift.
But Fuyuki was such a small and sleepy town, its little shops nodding off under the snow, that she half-despaired of finding something suitable -- until she saw the brooch. Gold-toned and shaped like a sparrow, wings and tail enameled in blue and green, back covered with rhinestones ... An old man finds an injured sparrow, she remembered someone saying, and tends to it even though his wife disapproves ...
She carries the sparrow inside a box, and the box inside her coat pocket, warm with her gloves. That will do for Kaede. Now what does one get a Servant ... ?
